We are seeking an experienced Accounting Consultant to support a 3-month project focused on executing and improving account reconciliations and core day-to-day accounting operations. You will need a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, a meticulous approach to reconciling complex accounts, and a hands-on mindset. This role will play a key part in ensuring timely and accurate reconciliations during the month-end close process, enhancing internal controls, and supporting the client’s accounting team in maintaining clean, audit-ready financial records.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and file indirect tax returns (sales & use, property, excise, gross receipts, and other non-income taxes) across U.S. jurisdictions and internationally as needed
• Ensure timely, accurate filings and maintain compliance with all applicable tax laws
• Maintain documentation and internal controls to support tax positions and audit readiness
• Manage federal, state, and local tax audits and inquiries, including data collection and resolution
• Develop strategies to reduce audit exposure and manage audit risk
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess their tax impact
• Recommend and implement process improvements and tax automation tools
• Advise on transactional tax implications and the taxability of products/services
• Collaborate with accounting, legal, IT, procurement, and operations to ensure tax compliance
• Coordinate with external tax advisors and software vendors

Required Experience, Education, and Credentials:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s in Tax or CPA preferred
• 10+ years of indirect tax experience in corporate or consulting settings
• Expertise in multi-jurisdictional indirect tax compliance and audit management
• Experience with tax platforms (e.g., Vertex, Avalara, OneSource)
• Strong knowledge of U.S. state and local tax laws; familiarity with VAT/GST concepts is a plus
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

-Resource Solutions Consultants are paid for every hour worked and time and a half for overtime, unlike traditional employment where professionals at this level are exempt from earning overtime pay.
