THE TEAM
As part of the Global Ticketmaster Finance team, the Ticketmaster North America Accounting group is a diverse team of professionals responsible for all aspects of accounting and balance sheet reporting and indirect tax compliance for the Ticketmaster lines of business located in the Unites States and Canada. Our team provides excellent support to all stakeholders, both internal and external, and we are committed to meeting the challenges that come with the evolving business, regulatory and compliance landscape in which we operate.

THE JOB
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager, Indirect Tax to oversee the Ticketmaster North America indirect tax compliance process including reviewing and approving indirect tax returns, managing sales tax audits, and leading indirect tax automation projects utilizing Ticketmaster’s third-party indirect tax software. Our ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, is highly organized, has prior experience as a member of the indirect tax function within an organization and is proficient in Microsoft Excel, Vertex OSeries and other enterprise level accounting software (i.e., Oracle Financials and/or SAP).

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Review, approve and file all US indirect tax returns and related calculation support (sales tax, admissions tax, business & occupation tax, property tax).

Review, approve and file all Canada indirect tax returns and related calculation support (GST, HST and QST) for all lines of business that Ticketmaster operates in Canada.

Manage all aspects of indirect tax audits including communicating with and resolving disputes with tax auditors, researching tax statutes, preparing audit support, and providing updates and guidance to TM management on the status of the audits.

Lead indirect tax compliance automation efforts including creating and maintaining tax rules in the Vertex tax software and setting up various state and local tax returns within the Vertex tax software.

Review and reconcile indirect tax general ledger accounts and propose journal entries to record accruals as needed.

Research indirect tax laws and monitor new tax legislation and work with third party consultants as needed to keep internal tax research up to date and ensure that Ticketmaster is filing all necessary tax returns.

Prepare indirect tax policies and procedures as needed for use by internal and external stakeholders and educate internal personnel on changes in tax laws.

Collaborate and coordinate with internal personnel to resolve indirect tax calculation issues related to the TM ticketing systems, review and approve tax exemption requests and provide guidance on corrective actions needed to prevent future tax calculation issues.

Oversee business license registration and renewal process.

Propose and lead process improvement initiatives geared towards streamlining and making the indirect tax compliance process more efficient.

Prepare ad hoc schedules as requested by management.

Participate in various indirect tax projects as requested by management.


WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Tax.

Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in a comparable indirect tax role.

Vertex OSeries and Vertex Indirect Tax Returns software experience desired.

Experience with Canada tax filing requirements (GST, HST, PST) is preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong Excel skills including use of Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP function preferred.

Experience with Oracle Financials ERP systems is a plus.

Experience with Canada tax filing requirements (GST, HST, PST) is a plus.

Strong analytical and multi-tasking skills.

Strong attention to detail and highly organized.

Ability to work overtime during financial close periods as needed.
