Job summary
Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Design Engineer position based at the Central Office in Indianapolis. Requires a registered Professional Engineer license in Indiana, or active pursuit of PE licensure with EIT/FE certification.
The role involves developing road design plans, site visits, and coordinating projects while supporting junior staff. Candidates should have 4+ years in civil engineering or transportation fields, strong CAD/ArcGIS skills, and familiarity with INDOT systems
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer license in Indiana is required, with PE pursuit exceptions possible for EIT/FE candidates.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate state vehicles.
- Extensive knowledge of civil engineering theories, highway/transportation design, and AASHTO standards.
- Proficiency with CAD, ArcGIS, and INDOT systems (SPMS, dTIMS, WMS).
- At least 4 years of professional experience in civil engineering, transportation research, or related field.
- Ability to prepare and review complex design plans and perform design calculations.
Responsibilities
- Develop road design plans using OpenRoads Designer.
