Job summary

L’Arche Homefires seeks an energetic Independent Living Support (ILS) Assistant to aid Core Members in Wolfville–New Minas, NS. This permanent, full-time role focuses on daily living support, community activities, and relationship building within a caring, faith-based community.

You will complete eight core trainings, maintain digital records, and travel as needed. A valid driver’s license, clear background checks, and OH&S training are required. Benefits follow the national policy.

Qualifications

Knowledge of L’Arche history, core values, and mission is an asset.
Post-secondary education or experience in human services or disability support is an asset.
Strong communication and collaboration within a team are essential.
Ability to support daily living activities in a shared living setting.
Proficient with computers and digital documentation; able to learn new platforms.

Responsibilities

Learn and uphold L’Arche identity, mission, policies and confidentiality.
Participate in team meetings, reviews, and community events as required.
Support Core Members with daily living activities: household tasks, errands, budgeting, meals.
Assist Core Members with health, wellness, and transportation needs.
Maintain records via Therap and communicate using organizational email.
Drive Core Members with valid license and discuss insurance requirements.
Ensure safety through compliance with DSOD and OH&S training.
