Qualifications

• Knowledge of L’Arche history, core values, and mission is an asset.
• Post-secondary education or experience in human services or disability support is an asset.
• Strong ability to communicate effectively and collaborate within a team environment.
• Ability to support daily living activities within a shared living environment.
• Proficient in computer use, Microsoft 365, online learning platforms and digital documentation processes.
• Flexible, adaptable, and able to remain calm in emergent situations.
• Reliable, proactive, and able to follow through on commitments.
• Open to learning and growth; receptive to feedback respectfully.
• Experience or education supporting aging populations, including dementia care and person-centered approaches.
• Committed to lifelong learning and contributing to community life.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 35 lbs.
• CPR and Standard First Aid certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Learn and understand the Identity and Mission of L’Arche and adhere to core documents.
• Participate in team meetings, annual reviews, roles and goals, and community gatherings.
• Support core members in daily life and community activities with respect and person-centered care.
• Engage with core members in activities, outings, and mutual relationships.
• Contribute to daily home life including planning, shopping, meals, cleaning, and yard maintenance.
• Assist with personal care and daily living tasks in collaboration with the team.
• Complete administrative tasks as delegated by the House Leader.
• Maintain documentation and use the L’Arche Homefires email for communication.
• Assist with transportation in the community fleet when needed.
