Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice in Fresno, CA is seeking compassionate Associate Veterinarians to provide in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care. You’ll work independently in the field with strong medical leadership and support while delivering meaningful medicine.

This privately owned practice emphasizes autonomy, flexibility, and a low-stress environment, with weekend availability, Fear Free alignment, and opportunities for professional growth in a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• DVM, VMD, or BVMS from an accredited veterinary school.
• Active veterinary license in the state of practice.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Ability to work some weekends on rotating schedule.
• Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
• Background check and MVR post-hire and prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care in a compassionate, Fear Free–aligned manner
• Support families through the end-of-life process with empathy, patience, and professionalism
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
• Collaborate with Heartstrings’ medical leadership and support teams
• Participate in ongoing training, education, and clinical development
