Job summary

Island Doctors seeks an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner to manage health problems and coordinate care for our patients. The APRN will work as an independent practitioner within state and federal rules, providing primary medical services and collaborating with the healthcare team.

Key duties include performing comprehensive histories and exams, ordering tests, prescribing treatments, and maintaining accurate medical records while upholding privacy standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure.
• Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area.
• Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex perioperative patients.
• Order laboratory and radiology tests and refer patients to specialists when appropriate.
• Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions.
• Discuss potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients and ensure allergy information is up-to-date before prescribing.
• Work with the primary healthcare team to provide patients with primary medical care services within standard care for primary care patients.
• Analyze reports, test results, medical records and examinations to diagnose conditions and propose treatment options.
• Provide lifestyle and diet advice to improve health or manage health issues.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with health information privacy laws.
• Record complete, timely and legible medical records.
• Assist with training and compliance actions.
• Perform other duties as needed.
