Kindly Direct Care in Mountainside, NJ seeks a Direct Support Professional to work one-to-one with an adult male in Union County. The role focuses on mentoring, coaching, and helping build independence through activities like library visits, walks, fishing, and computer learning.

The DSP will support daily living, communication, and social skills while maintaining safety and following individualized instructions. Driving is required, and onboarding and background checks are part of the process.

• Dependable, engaging, patient and able to build rapport.
• Experience in mentoring, coaching, education, recreation, behavioral health, human services, disability support, or caregiving is a plus.
• Able to commit reliably to an agreed schedule.
• Driving is required.
• Able to complete onboarding, background checks, and training.

About This Opportunity

We are looking for an older, easygoing DSP to support a 57-year-old gentleman with community outings and building independence. Activities include fishing, taking walks, visiting the library, learning to use a computer, job searching, and grocery shopping.

You May Spend Your Shift

• Participating in grocery shopping, computer learning, community outings, walks, library visits, job searching and application follow-ups, local events and classes, and doctor’s appointments.

• Coaching daily living, communication, social, and independence skills.

• Helping establish positive routines and work toward individualized goals.

• Modeling problem-solving, appropriate communication, and healthy community participation.

• Supporting decision‑making, self‑advocacy, and confidence.

• Providing companionship and a consistent mentoring relationship.

• Maintaining safety and following individualized support instructions.

• Completing required documentation and staying in close communication with the Kindly team.

Qualifications

• Dependable, engaging, patient, and able to build rapport.

• Experience in mentoring, coaching, education, recreation, behavioral health, human services, disability support, or caregiving is a plus.
