Job summary

The Arc Baltimore is seeking a Workforce Development Specialist to help job seekers identify skills, preferences, and barriers, and to build strong employer relationships in the community. This role follows a holistic, person-centered, employment-first approach to securing competitive employment for adults with developmental disabilities.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 20 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet agency driving requirements.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to transport people supported in a personal vehicle.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in a business setting.
  • Ability to multi-task, stay organized and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and strong internet search skills.

Responsibilities

  • Target and identify business types to contact based on job seekers’ needs and interests.
  • Maintain updated information on local businesses, jobs, and locations.
  • Conduct informational interviews with new employers.
  • Timely and accurate data entry and reporting.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to job seekers, parents, advocacy groups, and employers; attend networking events.
  • Consult with businesses on disability issues and discuss accommodations.
  • Utilize social and traditional media to pursue partnerships; assist in job applications and interviews.
  • Coordinate discovery meetings; define ideal employment conditions, learning style, and support needs.
  • Complete vocational profiles and coordinate employment-focused activities in the community.
  • Identify job carving and job restructuring opportunities; develop employment proposals.
  • Ensure milestones are documented according to guidelines and communicate with employers about partnerships.
  • Represent The Arc Baltimore professionally to employers, persons supported, families, and funding sources.
  • Complete required trainings and perform other duties as assigned.
