Job summary

Henry Viscardi School is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support classroom teachers in delivering instruction and promoting the academic, social, and physical development of students with disabilities.

You will assist with classroom activities, provide one-on-one or small-group support, help with daily routines, and reinforce individualized education goals under certified staff guidance, in a safe, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• New York State Teaching Assistant Certification preferred.
• Experience with children with disabilities in educational or care settings.
• Must be able to lift and transfer.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom teachers in delivering instruction.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group support.
• Assist with daily routines such as feeding, mobility, and reinforcing individualized education goals.
• Promote a safe, inclusive classroom environment and participate in school activities and professional development.
