Job summary

Special Care is seeking an Assistant Teacher to provide essential classroom support to the lead teacher, ensuring a safe and structured learning environment for students with disabilities.

Responsibilities include aiding with instruction, supervising students, and offering individualized support to promote academic and developmental growth. Experience in education or childcare and a CDA/AS degree are preferred.

Qualifications

• CDA credential or Associate’s degree in ECE, SPED, or related field.
• Prior experience with children in educational or childcare setting.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs to assist mobility and classroom needs.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
• Provide individualized assistance to students based on learning needs.
• Assist students with mobility, self-care, and daily routines.
• Foster an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere.
• Supervise students during transitions, mealtimes, and recess.
• Maintain classroom organization and prepare learning materials.
