Job summary

Heritage Academy is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to plan, develop, deliver, and evaluate individualized education services for students with emotional disabilities and autism in an inclusive setting. You will collaborate with general education teachers, manage IEPs and 504 plans, and facilitate IEP meetings to ensure students receive appropriate supports.

The role emphasizes collaboration with families, adherence to regulations, and development of behavioral intervention plans

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field.
• Valid state SPED Certification-Cross Categorical or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of experience with emotionally disabled and autism preferred; experience in educating special needs students required.

Responsibilities

• Assist special education students in their education, emotional, social, and behavioral needs.
• Maintain regular communication with parents by means of email, phone calls, conferences, and progress reports.
• Collaborate with general education teachers regarding the educational, social, emotional, and physical needs and objectives of each student; design appropriate teaching strategies and adapt instructional materials per IEPs.
• Facilitate all special education meetings - Review of Existing Data (RED), Multidisciplinary (MET), IEP and 504 plan reviews.
• Identify needs of assigned students through formal and informal assessments and monitor progress using appropriate measurements.
