Job summary

Brown University in Providence, RI seeks an Accessibility and Learning Specialist within the Office of Academic Support of the Warren Alpert Medical School. You will conduct intake interviews, review documentation, determine accommodations, and support students’ academic achievement.

Lead one-on-one consultations and group sessions, promote inclusive learning, and collaborate with clinical partners to implement accommodations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Higher Education, Rehabilitation Services or similar program plus 5-7 years of experience working with students with disabilities in a college setting
• Masters preferred.
• Counseling coursework preferred.
• Experience: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Formal training and education in disabilities services
• Experience working with diverse student populations
• Knowledge of ADA and of various learning disabilities
• Experience with reviewing and evaluating documentation to determine accommodations in higher education or employment settings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct student intake interviews and reviews medical, psychological, and neuropsychological information to determine eligibility for accommodations.
• Identify appropriate accommodations based on disability and program requirements.
• Provide referrals to neuropsychological testing and to other clinicians as indicated.
• Promote student achievement by improving student academic skills through one-on-one learning consultations as well as group presentations.
• Engage in professional development and other projects/activities as needed to support the Office of Academic Support.
