Job summary

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) – Montgomery Parks is seeking an Inclusion Support Staff for ice skating programs. You will assist participants with disabilities and help them participate with peers in recreational activities.

Responsibilities include adapting activities, promoting inclusion, documenting needs, and supporting families and staff. This seasonal/part-time role requires reliable transportation and weekend availability. Training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Must have a desire and interest in working with people with disabilities.
• 18 years of age.
• Skilled ice skater.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to individuals with disabilities to be included in general recreational programs with their peers.
• Actively participates in all program activities, assists with adaptation of activities, and helps to facilitate social interactions.
• Advocates for the full inclusion of participants within the program.
• Implements behavior management plans, assists in development of behavior management plans; and provides documentation as required.
• Communicates effectively with supervisors, program staff, and participants’ families while enforcing program rules and adhering to policies, procedures, and Youth Camp Standards.
