Job summary

Onslow County Schools is seeking an Exceptional ChildrenTeacher – General Curriculum for Woodland Elementary to provide specialized instruction and case management under the IEP framework. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Holds or is eligible to hold NC Exceptional Children teaching license appropriate for assignment.
• Maintains all licensure requirements established by the NC Department of Public Instruction.
• Successfully completes required district and state professional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide specially designed instruction aligned to each student's IEP.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with federal and state law.
• Knowledge of NC Standard Course of Study, NC Occupational Course of Study, EOC/EOG, transition planning and appropriate life skills instruction.
• Serve as case manager for assigned students.
• Collect, analyze, and maintain student performance data.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to implement accommodations and modifications.
• Participate in eligibility, annual review, manifestation determination, reevaluation, and transition meetings.
• Develop measurable annual goals and monitor student progress.
• Administer and interpret educational assessments as appropriate.
• Utilize research-based instructional strategies to improve student achievement.
• Maintain accurate educational records and required documentation.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
• Collaborate with related service providers.
• Ability to safely supervise students that may exhibit significant behavioral disabilities.
• Ability to exercise sound professional judgement during emergency situations.
• Support implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans and Behavior Support Plans.
• Utilize district-approved de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention procedures.
• Respond appropriately during behavioral, medical, or safety emergencies.
• Implement district-approved physical intervention procedures when required by student behavior, authorized by district policy, and consistent with required training.
• Maintain an orderly, safe, and productive learning environment.
• Supervise students in classrooms and other assigned school settings.
• Participate in school improvement initiatives.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Maintain required professional licensure.
• Participate in district and school professional development.
• Comply with Board policies, administrative procedures, and professional standards.
• Supervise instructional assistants assigned to the classroom as applicable
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal consistent with the position.
