Job summary

Easterseals in District Heights, MD is seeking an Assistant Teacher for our Head Start program. You will work with a team to create inclusive activities for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, following Easterseals guidelines and the Creative Curriculum.

The position requires at least 1 year of teaching experience and licensing as required by state/local regulations; related coursework or a CDA is preferred. Expect a supportive environment with strong teamwork and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of professional teaching experience required.
• Must meet state/local licensing requirements for education.
• College coursework or CDA or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with creating inclusive activities for all children.
• Help plan engaging classroom activities following Creative Curriculum and guidelines.
• Create a nurturing classroom environment that supports development.
• Prioritize health, safety, and well-being; assist with feeding, toileting, and cleanliness.
• Perform other duties to support classroom operations and children's well‑being.
