Job summary

The Arc San Francisco in Burlingame is seeking an instructor to help adults with developmental disabilities learn to function more independently. You will design instruction, provide remote and in-person sessions, and track progress toward individual goals.

You will plan annual calendars, lead art-related activities, and coordinate services with families and providers while keeping records and ensuring safety and quality of life for clients.

Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable in Art Theory and techniques.
  • Experience or interest in working with adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Flexible schedule; some early mornings/evenings/weekends may be required.
  • Clear communication and safety awareness.
  • Valid California driver's license required if driving on agency business.

Responsibilities

  • Works with clients remotely and in-person on a one-on-one basis or in a group setting to provide a wide range of services.
  • Implements direct instructional plan for clients in community or residential sites.
  • Prepares annual calendar for client program reviews and facilitates case reviews and goal planning for each client.
  • Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations.
  • Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing, painting, print making, crafts and mixed media.
  • Knows and can apply elements of design and modern principles of art
  • Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of clients.
  • Instruct clients in proper care and use of tools and equipment.
  • Plan and present art displays, merchandising and exhibitions designed to showcase clients’ work.
  • Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs
  • Maintains records and other documents as requested by direct Supervisor; updates IPP information as needed, completes assessments as needed, and maintains daily log of activities and observations
  • Addresses all issues and crises related to client services.
  • Ensures implementation of all safety policies and procedures.
  • Attends and participates in relevant meetings, conferences and training as assigned.
  • Provides ongoing advocacy and follow-along support as needed for implementation of each client’s individual plan.
  • Assists with the creation and maintenance of community sites and partnerships.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
