Job summary

The City of Baltimore is hiring an Inclusion Assistant to provide on-site support to participants with disabilities in recreation programs and summer camps. You will report to the Inclusion Specialist and work up to 40 hours per week, typically 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, with duties conducted in stimulating environments such as pools and field trips.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least 1 year of relevant experience, and strong communication with staff and caregivers.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; must be 18 years or older.
One year of experience in recreational activities or working with participants with disabilities preferred.
College coursework in related fields may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

Provide on-site assistance to participants with disabilities as they join general recreation programs.
Supervise participants actively and responsibly.
Coordinate with program director to adapt activities as needed.
Maintain a safe environment and promote participant success in activities.
Assist with activities of daily living as appropriate.
Communicate with inclusion specialist and caregivers regarding participant needs and accommodations.
Support development and tracking of participant goals and social skills.
Document behavior management and accommodation effectiveness daily.
Promote programs through calendars, newsletters and community communications.
