Job summary

The Met is seeking an Incident Response Manager to lead and coordinate security operations, including executive protection for dignitaries and VIPs, and to oversee protective plans for special events to safeguard guests, staff and the collection.

You will supervise threat assessments, advance planning, and incident response, ensuring alignment with museum policies and best practices, with a focus on proactive risk mitigation and event safety.

Qualifications

• 15 years of experience in law enforcement or the fire department.
• Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role in security, law enforcement, military, or fire operations.
• Knowledge of NYC Fire Safety codes and NFPA Life Safety Codes.
• Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
• Relevant certifications or training in security, law enforcement, emergency management, or fire/life safety strongly preferred.
• Willingness to perform incident/emergency response duties including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Strong de-escalation, judgment, and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead executive protection operations for dignitaries, VIPs, trustees, and other high-profile individuals.
• Conduct threat assessments and protective intelligence with the Met Security Intelligence Team.
• Develop and oversee comprehensive executive protection plans for high-profile movements and events.
• Coordinate with events leadership to ensure guest, staff, and collection safety.
• Conduct post-event evaluations to improve protocols and readiness.
• Provide real-time protection and security coverage during travel and public appearances.
• Liaise with law enforcement and protective agencies as needed.
