Job description

About Pattern Biosciences

At Pantheon Bio, we build DNA computers that run molecular programs in cells to treat cancer and other diseases. Using multi-input molecular-level computation in individual cells, our approach leads to curative therapies where the conventional one drug-one target paradigm has failed to deliver effective treatments. We are building a world-class team at our headquarters in South San Francisco to translate two decades of scientific progress in DNA computing and synthetic biology into the clinic.

About the role

You will design and execute in vivo mouse studies of AAV-based cancer therapeutic candidates to advance our oncology pipeline and technology platform. You will contribute to preclinical study design and lead their execution, ensuring high levels of scientific rigor and compliance with relevant regulations. This is an ideal position for a candidate with a strong background in immuno-oncology and in vivo pharmacology who thrives in a team-oriented, cross-disciplinary collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Design and execute in vivo studies in various preclinical tumor models to evaluate the mechanism of action, efficacy and safety of therapeutic candidates
  • Perform in vivo procedures, such as orthotopic tumor implantation, IV and IP injections, blood sampling, in vivo imaging, and animal welfare monitoring
  • Perform necropsy, tissue collection and processing for IHC or histopathology, tissue dissociation and cell sorting via MACS/FACS for downstream tumor cell-based or immune cell-based assays
  • Conduct immune cell profiling using multicolor flow cytometry, and cytokine/chemokine analysis using ELISA and Luminex
  • Generate, document, analyze and interpret experimental data to support critical decisions on the lead candidates
  • Manage external laboratories and partners
Who you are
  • PhD in Life Sciences with specialization in oncology or immunology
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience working with murine tumor models in an industry and/or academic setting
  • Demonstrated independent ability to design, execute and interpret experimental data
  • Demonstrated experience in in vivo procedures, such as rodent surgery and IV dosing
  • Experience with tissue handling and processing, cell sorting, multi-color flow cytometry and cytokine profiling, experience with IHC and ISH is a plus
  • Proficiency in mammalian cell and tissue culture
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team
  • Experience working in a GLP or regulatory-compliant environment is a plus
