Job summary

Ridgedale YMCA is seeking a Swim Instructor In-Training to shadow certified instructors, learn lesson programming, and complete required skills verification within 90 days. You will deliver safe, friendly water experiences and support member safety under YMCA policies.

The role offers flexible schedules, paid training, and a free YMCA membership with potential wage progression to $16.50 per hour after successful training completion.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16.
• Verification of SI readiness required within 90 days of hire.
• Complete YSL V6: Observe & Communicate, YSL V6: Orientation Principles of Youth.
• Development, YMCA Swim Instructor Skills Verification within 90 days from date of hire.
• Patience and the ability to communicate with all ages and levels of swimmers.
• Demonstrated ability to swim in shallow and deep water, and tread water.
• Dedicated to member safety and the mission of the YMCA.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and assist certified swim instructors and learn programming and emergency procedures.
• Know, understand, and consistently communicate policies and procedures for the pool, body of water and whirlpool.
