Job summary

YMCA North is hiring Swim Instructors in Training at Dayton, Blaisdell, and North Community locations. You will shadow certified instructors, learn lesson programming and safety procedures, and complete required skills verification within 90 days.

Training is paid, with progression to the Swim Instructor role at $16.50/hr after successful completion, plus benefits for eligible staff. The role offers a flexible schedule and opportunities for growth, along with a free YMCA membership.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16.
• Verification of SI readiness required within 90 days of hire.
• YMCA Swim Instructor Skills Verification within 90 days from date of hire.
• Patience and the ability to communicate with all ages and levels of swimmers.
• Demonstrated ability to swim in shallow and deep water, and tread water.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and assist certified swim instructors and learn programming and emergency procedures.
• Know, understand, and consistently communicate pool policies and procedures for safety.
• Provide excellent customer service in a safe, enjoyable atmosphere that promotes member safety and satisfaction.
• This position reports to the Aquatics Supervisor/Aquatics Director and works with staff and volunteers.
