Job summary

The Michaels Companies in Portland, OR is seeking an Outgoing Crafty Party & Event Host for weekend and weekday evenings. You will plan, coordinate, and host in-store events and children’s parties, teaching crafts and engaging guests of all ages. Customer service and safety standards are emphasized throughout your shift.

You will assist with checkout, product assistance, and event administration while ensuring a fun, memorable experience for guests and supporting the store’s brand promises.

Qualifications

• Energetic and enthusiastic personality.
• Experience working with children and children’s events.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Retail and/or event coordination experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and facilitate events at the store, including kids’ birthday parties and craft classes.
• Engage with clients of all ages to create a fun, creative in-store experience.
• Demonstrate and teach craft activities; assist with face painting and other activities.
• Coordinate party add-ons (goody bags, balloons) per company standards.
• Handle administrative tasks: emails, calls, and paperwork as needed.
• Set up, run, and clean up before/after each event; maintain store cleanliness.
• Assist with store duties: checkout support, merchandising, and stock duties.
