Job summary

Michaels in Columbia, MO is seeking an energetic Events Coordinator to plan and run in-store events, including children’s birthday parties, crafts, and classes. You will engage customers, guide participants, and ensure safety and cleanliness while delivering a fun, memorable experience.

Responsibilities include coordinating events with store teams, handling customer questions, managing setup and teardown, and promoting store programs.

Qualifications

• Must have experience working with children and children’s events.
• Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
• Retail and/or customer service experience required.
• Energetic and enthusiastic personality and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate events at the Michaels store, including children’s birthday parties and crafts.
• Engage with clients of all ages to create a fun and creative environment.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants in crafts, and assist with add-ons like goody bags and balloons.
• Facilitate communication with clients and store team members, and handle emails and phone calls.
• Assist with daily store tasks such as stocking, checkout support, and maintaining store recovery standards.
• Ensure events run smoothly by setting up, breaking down, and cleaning before and after events.
• Support store safety and cleanliness programs and follow SOPs and company policies.
• Cross-train in framing selling and production as applicable and participate in daily store cleanliness activities.
