Job summary
SASED is seeking a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to join its Medical Program in Lisle, IL, as a Medical/Teacher Assistant. This role supports students with medical needs in the classroom and acts as a teaching assistant to help achieve educational goals while ensuring health and safety.
The position requires Illinois nurse licensure, CPR certification, and ISBE paraprofessional or substitute approval.
Qualifications
- Licensed Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in Illinois.
- CPR certification.
- Paraprofessional or Substitute Approval from ISBE.
Responsibilities
- The Medical/Teacher Assistant's primary responsibility is to the individual student's health and safety needs.
- Assist in development of classroom health plans and provide staff inservice on health plans.
- Perform medical procedures required for students with medical needs (blood glucose monitoring, catheterizations, gastrostomy care, tracheostomy care).
- Monitor daily routines and assist with activities of daily living; document health status daily.
- Provide care during student transportation as required.
