Job summary

Montage International in Bluffton, SC is seeking an In-Room Dining Captain to supervise daily tasks of In-Room Dining Associates, ensuring accuracy and timely service. You will lead pre-shift meetings and mentor staff to uphold high hotel standards.

The position requires 1-2 years’ upscale hotel In-Room Dining experience and strong communication skills. Responsibilities include ordering, reporting, scheduling, and coordinating with the kitchen to ensure flawless guest experiences.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead daily pre-shift meetings.
• Assist in training Associates to meet hotel service standards.
• Identify outstanding performance and document disciplinary actions as needed.
• Order and maintain par levels for In-Room Dining supplies.
• Complete production reports and manage requisitions.
• Assist In-Room Dining Manager with scheduling and labor cost control.
• Ensure proper mise en place and timely delivery of guest orders and amenities.
• Maintain cleanliness and condition of In-Room Dining area and assets.
• Coordinate with kitchen on special requests.

In-Room Dining Captain

Summary

The In-Room Dining Captain is responsible for supervising the daily tasks of In-Room Dining Associates, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Essential Functions

• Conducting pre-shift meetings on a daily basis
• Participating in ongoing training of Associates to ensure performance continues to improve and all hotel service standards are consistently being met
• Recognizing outstanding performance by service personnel and handling discipline as per hotel standard operating procedures
• Assisting in ordering and maintaining par levels in the In-Room Dining department
• Completing reports on production, filling out necessary requisitions and controlling distribution of necessary supplies
• Assisting the In-Room Dining Manager with scheduling and controlling labor costs
• Ensuring proper set up of department area, making sure all mise en place is ready so that orders are not delayed
• Inspecting daily set-up, presentation, and delivery of amenities
• Controlling the order load of In-Room Dining Servers
• Maintaining proper condition and cleanliness of In-Room Dining area and assets
• Assisting all other Associates and ensuring they are providing the highest level of customer service
• Communicating with the kitchen regarding any special needs or requests
• Delivering guest orders and amenities in a timely manner with 100% accuracy
• Performing related duties as directed

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent education preferred
• 1-2 years’ experience in In-Room Dining at an upscale hotel required
• 2-3 years’ experience in customer service preferred
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Must possess required state/local compliance certifications
• Must be willing to participate in a learning environment

Physical Requirements

Position requires walking and standing most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks. Requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.
