Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Block Advisor Tax Advisor in Manassas, VA to prepare accurate returns and advise clients across individual and business tax scenarios, supported by industry-leading training and technology. Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
• Experience preparing complex individual and business returns, including tax planning and audit support
• Experience in client-facing, consultative, or advisory roles
• Strong verbal and written communication, with ability to explain tax concepts clearly
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse tax situations (individual and business)
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand finances and tax implications, then provide clear recommendations
• Build year-round client relationships and identify tax savings opportunities and Block Advisors products/services
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive, client-focused office environment
