Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Block Advisor (Tax Advisor) in Manassas, VA to prepare accurate returns for individuals and businesses. You will interview clients, uncover opportunities, and advise on tax savings while leveraging training and technology.

You will deliver empathetic, consultative service, build lasting relationships, and participate in a competitive incentive plan, with in-office, in-person work. Relevant credentials and continuing education are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual and business returns; tax planning and audit support.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent)

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for diverse and complex situations.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financials and implications.
• Build year-round client relationships with empathetic, consultative service.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance.
• Collaborate with team members and maintain a positive office environment.
