Job summary

NTC Language Services is seeking reliable in-person Educational Interpreters for Tajik in NYC, NY. This part-time, as-needed role requires travel to assignments and offers a starting pay of $35.00 per hour. Interpreters facilitate clear communication among students, families, educators, and school staff.

Applicants must read, write, and speak fluent English and Tajik, interpret accurately, and maintain confidentiality. Remote work is not offered.

Qualifications

• Be able to read, write, and speak proficiently in both English and Tajik.
• Interpret spoken communication accurately and completely between both languages.
• Understand written information and communicate it accurately when required.
• Demonstrate strong listening, comprehension, and communication skills.
• Be comfortable learning and using educational and special education terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person interpretation for parent-teacher conferences.
• Attend CSE/CPSE meetings as needed.
• Assist with student evaluations, enrollment, and orientations.
• Maintain confidentiality and neutrality.
• Arrive on time for assignments.
• Communicate professionally with families and school staff.
