Job summary

MCPHS School of Professional Studies seeks adjunct instructors for an 8-week, noncredit Bioversity program in Dorchester. The role centers on translating real-world lab workflows into practical, job-ready training for entry-level biotech roles.

Teach on-site, deliver hands-on sessions covering lab safety, equipment use, sample handling, inventory, SOPs, and assessments while guiding adult learners toward workforce readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Hands-on experience in laboratory operations, lab support, facilities, or biotech/pharma environment.
• Experience with common lab equipment (freezers, incubators, LN₂, gas systems).
• Previous experience teaching and/or developing in-person training.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Commitment to supporting adult learners entering the workforce.

Responsibilities

• Teach on-site in Dorchester approximately two days per week for 3-hour blocks between 9:30 am–3:30 pm.
• Deliver engaging, hands-on training sessions focused on day-to-day lab operations.
• Translate complex lab environments into clear concepts for entry-level learners.
• Develop and administer effective assessments on core learning concepts.
• Provide feedback to students regarding subject matter and professional skills.
• Ensure the course meets MCPHS quality standards and explore improvements from feedback.
