Job summary

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center is seeking a Mental Health Assistant to join our on-site team in Paramus, NJ. You will support patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses, assist with daily living activities, and help maintain a safe unit environment.

Qualifications

• Heartsaver/CPR Certification required.
• Technical skills required for patient care.
• Must pass Nursing Attendant test.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for OPS.
• Good organizational skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Must be computer literate.
• Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under supervision of RN and Charge Nurse.
• Take and record vital signs (TPR) and report deviations.
• Assist with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Maintain infection control and cleanliness of units.
• Document intake/output and medications as assigned.
• Assist with patient transfers and transport as needed.
• Support unit management and reporting of issues to nursing staff.
