Professional Alternatives in Bayside, NY seeks an Accounting Manager to lead the accounting function with a focus on cash management, escrow controls, and month-end close. You will supervise an Accounting Assistant and partner with leadership on reporting, analysis, and planning.

You will oversee daily cash activity, manage bank reconciliations, payroll accounting, and ensure internal controls. This is an in-office, leadership role offering close interaction with ownership.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong experience with full-cycle month-end close and financial statements.
• Experience managing multiple bank accounts and payroll accounting.
• Solid GAAP fundamentals and internal controls mindset.

Responsabilités

• Oversee daily cash activity across operating, escrow, premium, recording, and payroll accounts.
• Review and release wires, disbursements, refunds, and check requests under dual‑control procedures.
• Lead month-end close including journal entries, accruals, and reclasses.
• Complete/review bank and three‑way reconciliations; resolve file‑level discrepancies.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and variance/trend reporting for leadership.
• Manage payroll accounting, including contractor (1099) pay runs and payroll/PEO invoice reconciliation.
• Approve vendor payments and credit card coding; maintain vendor master controls and payment-change verification.
• Support underwriter and regulatory compliance (premium remittance, audits, data call, sales tax, escheatment).
• Supervise, train, and support the Accounting Assistant; strengthen SOPs and internal controls
