Job summary

Labcorp Early Development Laboratories Inc. in Madison, WI is seeking a Supervisor to lead and coordinate a team conducting nonclinical regulatory and non-regulatory studies in drug development.

This role involves hiring, coaching, scheduling, performance reviews, and ensuring compliance with SOPs, GLPs, and safety guidelines. Optimal candidate will oversee animal welfare, coordinate multi-group activities, and drive quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science discipline (Biology, Wildlife, Pre-veterinary, Zoology, Animal Science, or related Life Science disciplines)
• OR 3 years or more of experience in a research or laboratory role.
• 1 year or more prior leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the efforts of a team of operational staff for nonclinical regulatory and non-regulatory studies in drug development.
• Contributes to the hiring, coaching, scheduling/delegating work, conducting performance reviews, and determining pay/promotions.
• Ensures testing is completed by established deadlines in compliance with SOPs, GLPs, and regulatory agency guidelines.
• Monitor’s animal health and welfare in compliance with the Animal Welfare Act and help maintain facilities for AAALAC compliance.
• Schedules and coordinates daily activities of the group and liaises with other groups, sections and departments.
• Organizes necessary resources for conducting all relevant study or non-study related tasks and participates in the study performance.
• Ensures communication within the group and shares study progress, facility procedures, quality, health and safety updates.
• Understands and interprets study plans and identifies problems resulting from the study plan or during study conduct and takes appropriate action.
• Optimizes existing and develops new techniques, methods for study conduct or non-study specific areas and supports their application.
• Plans, organizes and participates in meetings (study start-up meetings, coordination meetings).
• Performs quality controls, corrects errors and ensures the quality control system.
• Ensures maintenance of instruments and equipment, maintenance, validation and calibration; manages inventory and replacements.
• Responsible for responses to reports from Study Direction, QAU, EH&S, clients or regulatory agencies in a timely manner.
• Performs corrective actions when needed.
• Provides safety and welfare for staff and enforces Environmental Health and Safety Policies.
