Job summary

First American seeks a Title Insurance Claims Counsel for a hybrid role in Berwyn, PA. You will evaluate claims, determine liability, and resolve coverage issues while coordinating reserves and outside counsel as needed.

The ideal candidate is a licensed attorney with 2–4 years in title insurance/claims, strong communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage litigation through resolution.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in good standing in the United States.
• Law degree required (JD or equivalent).
• 2–4 years of experience in title insurance, underwriting, and claims.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, determine loss and defense coverage liability and resolve claims.
• Establish settlement and expense reserves.
• Determine need to retain outside counsel.
• Manage claims and/or litigation through final resolution.
• Negotiate with claimants, opposing counsel, and third parties for resolution.
• Attend mediations and required court appearances.
• Review and approve invoices for costs and attorneys’ fees.
• Perform initial evaluation for recovery.
