Job summary

First American, a long-standing leader in title insurance, is seeking a Senior Claims Counsel to handle complex title and escrow claims in-house. You will manage investigations, coverage determinations, and strategic resolutions with outside counsel as needed.

The role requires extensive real estate litigation experience, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to independently manage a caseload while providing high-quality legal analysis in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience focusing on real estate matters (title/ownership, liens/easements/encumbrances, escrow).
• Experience with title insurance, escrow and lender matters is highly desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate facts and issues of claims; determine coverage and loss under the title policy.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants, opposing counsel, and third parties.
• Appear in court, mediations, and settlements; review outside counsel invoices and budgets.
