Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil Engineering or related field.
• Strong structural design and calculation experience.
• Experience with steel, aluminum, architectural metals or specialty structures.
• Familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC or relevant building codes.
• AutoCAD and/or structural design software experience.
• PE license preferred, but not required for the right candidate.
• Experience within a specialty contractor, fabricator or design-build environment is a plus.

A growing specialty contractor is seeking an In-House Structural / Design Engineer to support the design and engineering of canopies, sunshades, architectural metals, aluminum and specialty structures.

This is a hands‑on contractor-side role working closely with estimating, design, fabrication and project management. The goal is to bring engineering expertise in‑house, improve designs, reduce over-engineering and help the company price projects more competitively.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural calculations and design for canopies, sunshades and specialty metal systems.
• Review structural, shop and fabrication drawings.
• Provide engineering support during estimating and preconstruction.
