Architectural Fabrication, Inc. in Fort Worth, TX, is seeking a Senior Engineer, PE to lead the in-house design and engineering efforts for aluminum canopies, sunshades, and related architectural elements.

You will stamp calculations, manage the engineering team, ensure compliance with IBC and ASCE 7, and collaborate with design, fabrication, and project management to deliver safe, cost-effective solutions that meet project milestones and budgets.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Active PE license; Texas license within 90 days
• 4+ years progressive engineering experience; 2+ years in management
• Experience with aluminum structures and building shells
• Proficiency with structural analysis software and CAD tools (SolidWorks/AutoCAD)
• Strong organizational skills and client-facing communication

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Senior Engineer, PE provides advanced technical leadership and direct oversight of structural design work, reporting to the Director of Design & Engineering. This role involves the supervision of one engineer and ensures products meet all structural, safety, and quality standards while actively collaborating with pre-construction and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee complex structural calculations for components and assemblies, including connections, anchoring, and main structural members.
• Review, approve, and stamp calculations and shop drawings for project submittals, ensuring compliance with relevant building codes like IBC and ASCE 7.
• Lead and manage the in-house engineering team, setting department goals and managing project scheduling.
• Maintain expert-level knowledge of building codes applicable to architectural elements and sun control products.
• Collaborate with design, project management, fabrication, and sales teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Serve as the primary technical resource for troubleshooting complex design, fabrication, or field installation challenges.
• Drive continuous process improvement within the engineering department by standardizing calculations and optimizing workflows.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing, with the ability to obtain a Texas license within 90 days.
• Minimum of 4 years of progressive engineering experience and 2 years in a management or leadership role.
• Proven expertise in structural analysis and design, specifically with aluminum and building structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software and 2D/3D CAD software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Strong organizational skills and the capacity for clear, client-facing technical communication.
