Job summary

Just Construction Recruitment seeks an in-house Structural / Design Engineer to lead the design of canopies, sunshades, architectural metals, aluminum and specialty structures. This hands-on contractor-side role collaborates with estimating, design, fabrication and project management to bring engineering in-house and improve designs for cost competitiveness.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil Engineering or related field.
Strong structural design and calculation experience.
Experience with steel, aluminum, architectural metals or specialty structures.
Familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC or relevant building codes.
AutoCAD and/or structural design software experience.
PE license preferred, but not required for the right candidate.
Experience within a specialty contractor, fabricator or design-build environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform structural calculations and design for canopies, sunshades and specialty metal systems.
Review structural, shop and fabrication drawings.
Provide engineering support during estimating and preconstruction.
Review connections, anchorage, framing and support systems.
Work with fabrication and project teams to ensure designs are practical and constructible.
Provide solutions to field and fabrication issues.
Sign and seal drawings/calculations where licensed and required.
