Job summary

Symbii Home Health and Hospice-Layton is seeking an in-house Medical Assistant to support administrative and clinical tasks in a home health setting. The role includes filing, scheduling, patient communication, and coordinating tests and admissions.

You will document patient histories, assist with forms, process insurance and billing tasks, and help with admissions and test coordination under physician guidance.

Qualifications

• Ensures all reports and labs are filed in patients' records before appointments.
• Updates and files patient medical records.
• Schedules physician and clinician appointments by location and availability.
• Calls patients to remind about upcoming visits.
• Answers calls, takes messages, and provides feedback to patients, physicians, and pharmacies.
• Triage and route messages to physicians and clinical staff.
• Maintains logs and checks (fridge temps, meds, expiring vaccines).
• Codes and completes insurance forms.
• Assists with completing forms for patients, insurers, and providers.
• Handles correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping.
• Maintains financial records and issues monthly patient statements.

Responsibilities

• Arranges hospital admissions and labs and other tests.
• Interviews patients and records medical histories before first visit.
• Documents current symptoms and history before clinician visits.
• Authorizes prescription refills as directed and schedules tests/admissions.
