You will manage admissions, maintain EHRs, assist with billing and insurance verifications, and help ensure timely, accurate patient care while upholding HIPAA standards and privacy.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required based on experience.
  • Experience in a medical office or home health setting preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and EHR systems.
  • Experience with insurance verification, medical billing, and authorizations is a plus.
  • Strong computer proficiency and data entry skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Contact patients and offices in a courteous, professional manner.

Job description

We are seeking a dependable, organized, and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our home health team. The ideal candidate will provide administrative and clinical support to ensure the efficient operation of our home health agency while delivering exceptional service to patients, caregivers, physicians, nurses, case managers, and office staff. This position works closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) to support the daily operations of the nursing department for timely, accurate patient care coordination.

Responsibilities
  • Contact patients, physicians' offices, hospitals, case managers, and referral sources in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Complete patient admissions and prepare intake folders.
  • Maintain, organize, and update patient medical records and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Perform accurate data entry and ensure documentation is complete and compliant.
  • Assist with insurance verification, authorizations, medical billing, and payment processing.
  • Answer and direct incoming telephone calls for the nursing department.
  • Coordinate communication between nurses, physicians, patients, and office staff.
  • File, scan, fax, and maintain confidential patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with physician orders, plan of care documentation, and other administrative functions related to homecare services.
  • Prepare and maintain reports, correspondence, and other office documents.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Nursing and nursing staff.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient office environment.
  • Perform other administrative and clinical duties as assigned to support the nursing department and agency operations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required based on experience.
  • Previous experience in a medical office, home health agency, or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Experience with insurance verification, medical billing, and authorizations is a plus.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and data entry.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
