Job summary

West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing seeks a Food Services Manager to oversee daily operations of the food service department at the 129th Street Adult Care Facility. You will supervise kitchen and service staff, manage budgets, coordinate menus with a dietitian, and ensure health compliance and quality service.

The role requires in-house presence five days a week (35 hours) and leadership for maintaining safe, nutritious meals and efficient service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 5 years of cooking experience in a commercial kitchen serving 20+ persons or more.
• Minimum of 3-year experience with supervision or managerial responsibility.
• Health and safety regulations certification (e.g., SERV Safe) required.
• Knowledge of menu planning and nutritional guidelines.
• POS systems and cafeteria/restaurant management software knowledge.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all applicable state and city regulations regarding food storage, preparation, and kitchen maintenance.
• Maintain 6 months of dated menus with substitutions noted and copies of all food invoices.
• Coordinate with the dietitian to plan nutritious meals and prepare menus.
• Maintain an up-to-date file of kitchen-tested recipes.
• Attend monthly meetings with program administrator and residents.
• Supervise the ordering of all food and kitchen supplies from approved vendors.
• Maintain inventory of food and utensils.
• Ensure three-day emergency meal plan is maintained.
• Monitor and adhere to the annual food budget.
• Prepare and supervise meals with appetizing presentation.
