Job summary

Vast, a leader in next-generation space stations and space infrastructure, seeks an Associate General Counsel to lead national security and satellite transactions. Based in Long Beach or Washington DC, you will advise on DoD/Space Force contracts, FAR/DFARS regimes, and export controls, while enabling rapid business decisions.

You will work cross-functionally with business development, security, and engineering, handling complex negotiations and ensuring compliant deal execution for government

Qualifications

• JD admitted to practice in California or District of Columbia.
• 9+ years in government contracts or national security transactions.
• FAR/DFARS knowledge and regulatory familiarity.
• Ability to obtain security clearance.
• Strong written and verbal skills; collaborative mindset.
• Ability to balance risk with business needs in fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Advise on DoD/Space Force contracts and negotiate agreements.
• Structure high-value satellite and space systems deals.
• Manage international engagements balancing export controls.
• Provide practical legal guidance enabling rapid business moves.
• Lead cross-functional lifecycle of major transactions.
• Support special projects for the Legal team.
