Job summary

LHH is partnering with a private company in the insurance and benefits space to add an In-House Counsel to its in-house legal team. The role covers commercial contracts, regulatory research, and legal operations in a small, highly collaborative department.

The candidate will draft and negotiate agreements, conduct regulatory analysis, and coordinate with internal stakeholders and outside counsel. This is a hands-on role with exposure beyond a narrow practice area.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school
• 3+ years of relevant legal experience
• Excellent communication, research, and organizational skills
• Ability and willingness to work onsite 2-3 days per week

LHH has partnered with its valued client, a stable, privately held company in the insurance and benefits space is adding an In-House Counsel to its in‑house legal team. The role supports day‑to‑day legal needs across commercial contracts, regulatory research, and legal operations. The legal department is small, highly collaborative, and closely integrated with the business.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements
• Conduct legal research on regulatory, compliance, and privacy matters
• Support contract management and legal processes
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and outside counsel

• J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school
• 3+ years of relevant legal experience
• Strong communication, research, and organizational skills
• Ability and willingness to work onsite 2-3 days per week

This role presents a great opportunity for an attorney who thrives in a hands‑on environment and wants exposure beyond a narrow practice area. This is expected to be a successor role to the current General Counsel who has been with the company for 25+ years.
