Job summary

Opendoor is seeking a Counsel, Commercial to scale a modern contracting function within a public company. You will draft and negotiate standard agreements (SaaS, services, data/privacy terms) and partner with Procurement, Finance, and Security to move deals quickly while managing risk.

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Legal, this in-person role supports a high-volume business with visibility to senior leaders and cross-functional teams across multiple U.S. offices, including Tempe.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school with active Bar membership (California Bar preferred).
• Experience supporting commercial contracting in-house or at a law firm.
• Ability to independently drive routine agreements to completion with sound judgment.
• Experience with contract workflows: intake, triage, and basic reporting.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate routine commercial agreements using templates and playbooks (NDAs, order forms, SOWs, amendments).
• Summarize key terms for complex deals and surface issues for counsel.
• Partner with Procurement, Finance, and Security to keep contracting moving smoothly.
• Maintain contract templates, playbooks, and post-signature tracking with cross-functional partners.
• Help with intake, status visibility, and renewal/notice-date tracking with Procurement.
