Job Title: In-Home Personal Care Attendant (PCA)
Department: In-Home PCA
Reports To: Program Manager- In Home Services
FLSA: Non-Exempt


SUMMARY
The position involves providing caregiving and personal care services to individuals who have disabilities within the comfort of their homes.


BASIC FUNCTIONS AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide cleaning services including but not limited to vacuuming, dusting, washing dishes, appliance care, running errands and laundering clothing, reading, and writing essential correspondence for blind, illiterate or physically impaired individuals.
  2. Provide personal care services including but not limited to hair care, assistance with bathing and meal preparation.
  3. Maintain records of service delivery including time sheets, calendars, and incident documentation.
  4. Report any problems related to a participant or plan of care to supervisor.
  5. Complete required hours of continued training annually to meet state eligibility guidelines.
  6. Effectively and efficiently use computers or mobile devices to input, access, modify, or output information. This includes the ability to quickly access, store and retrieve data.
  7. All Other Duties as Assigned.


Physical Expectations
This position requires extended periods of walking and standing with some periods of sitting which are dependent upon the needs and activities of the individuals supported. It may require light to heavy lifting, up to fifty pounds independently, and occasional stooping, kneeling, bending, and/or climbing stairs depending on the needs of the individual supported. The position will require occasional physical intervention if confronted by a person displaying combative or potentially dangerous behavior.


Working Conditions
Office/home environment with noises from appliances, telephones, and occasional small machinery (lawn mower, etc.). May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and/or infectious diseases. Occasionally, prolonged hours or unusual chores to meet the unexpected needs of the individuals (i.e., medical and/or behavioral).


QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma or commitment to obtain HiSet or GED.
  2. Six months of experience as a care provider, CNA, housekeeper, or household worker, or one year of experience caring for children, sick or elderly individuals.
  3. Ability to perform a variety of cleaning tasks and mobility to negotiate a variety of obstacles in client homes.
  4. Ability to assess problems related to care plan and report to supervisor or RN consultant.
  5. Ability to adhere to OSHA safety protocols related to occupational exposure to blood or other infectious material.
  6. Must have access to mobile apps on a cell phone.
  7. Must be able to communicate effectively in English – both in writing and orally.
  8. Must not have been convicted of any disqualifying misdemeanor or felony and must not have been substantiated for abuse or neglect in the state of Missouri, as recorded by the Department of Mental Health’s Employee Disqualification List.
  9. Must demonstrate safe practices in all areas and exemplify positive professional standards.
  10. Must Receive Seasonal Flu Vaccination.
