Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in the state(s) where services are provided.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel between in-home appointments.
• Ability to work independently in a mobile veterinary setting.
• Excellent empathy and professionalism during sensitive end-of-life conversations.
• Weekend availability for rotational scheduling.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist up to 100 pounds.
• Commitment to safety, documentation, and adherence to veterinary regulations.
• Clear background and motor vehicle checks prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, and euthanasia.
• Travel independently to scheduled appointments in a mobile setting.
• Perform exams, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and related services.
• Guide families through end-of-life decisions with empathy and clarity.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each visit.
• Collaborate with Heartstrings team and referring veterinarians.
• Move and handle companion animals safely during visits.
• Maintain professionalism and clinical independence in the field.
• Demonstrate Heartstrings' values in all interactions with families and pets.
