Job summary

Children’s Institute (CII) provides in-home education, support and resources to children, parents, pregnant women and families in California. The Home Visitor will partner with families to create individualized plans, conduct home visits, and support goal attainment within the IFSP framework.

The role emphasizes culturally aware, family-centered practice, with a flexible schedule, extensive travel, and collaboration with parents to foster child development and family self-sufficiency.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of home visitation, early childhood services, or community-based programs experience.
  • Associate degree in early childhood education, social work, psychology, childhood development, or a related field required.
  • BA in early childhood education or related field preferred.
  • For Early Head Start Home Visitors only: 12 units of early childhood education/child development core courses outline in the CCTC Child Development Matrix.
  • Obtain 6 semester units with a focus on infant and toddler development at hire or within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the parent to develop and implement an individualized program for the family.
  • Promotes parent-child bonding and nurturing interactions.
  • Develops and maintains case notes and periodic reports.
  • Meets productivity standards and maintains caseload to meet weekly contact expectations.
  • Assesses family needs and helps develop goals for self-sufficiency.
  • Enhances family functioning by reducing risk and building protective factors.
  • Ensures enrollment is maintained through recruitment activities.
  • Collaborates with parents to strengthen knowledge of child development.
  • Ensures child-parent socialization occurs as required.
  • Assists in household management practices.
  • Plans continuity of care through CII’s integrated services model.
  • Provides resources and referrals to community support.
  • Conducts weekly home visits using routines and activities to achieve IFSP goals.
  • Maintains knowledge of cultural differences to tailor services.
