Catholic Charities West Michigan is seeking an MFT Advocate to deliver in‑home services for families in Lake, Newaygo, and Oceana counties. The role emphasizes Motivational Interviewing and the 2Gen framework, coordinating with MDHHS and PAFC to support safe, stable family outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services or education field required.
• Associate’s degree with 2 years of work experience with children/families and pursuing a bachelor’s degree within 6 months.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Experience working with families and children 0–18 is preferred.
• Knowledge of the 2Gen Framework and Motivational Interviewing techniques.
• Ability to work with diverse populations with cultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home services for up to 180 days with approved extensions up to 270 days total.
• Maintain face-to-face contact with families as defined by the contract and individual needs.
• Complete MDHHS and MFT documentation within required timeframes.
• Engage families using Motivational Interviewing to build rapport and assess needs, culture, and values.
• Assess prevention goals for each family member and develop tailored plans.
• Connect families with housing, transportation, employment, education, benefits, and other supports.
• Strengthen family well-being through the Two-Generation framework and reinforce goals in Prevention Plan Reports.
• Create safety plans addressing risk factors and provide life skills and parenting coaching.
