Job summary

Resource Innovations seeks a Residential Energy Auditor to perform in-home energy assessments across Charlotte, NC. You will evaluate the building envelope, HVAC and water heating, insulation, and lighting using BPI standards, delivering practical recommendations and clear explanations to homeowners.

In this field-based role, you will collect data, coordinate with contractors, and complete post-installation inspections, while upholding safety, quality, and customer-service standards in occupied

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of residential energy auditing or related field.
• Current BPI certification; candidates who can obtain certification may be considered.
• Knowledge of building envelope, HVAC, and energy-efficiency measures.
• Ability to learn program eligibility rules and documentation requirements.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Proficiency with mobile devices and field software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site residential energy audits in the service territory per BPI standards and program protocols.
• Assess home as a system, including envelope, insulation, HVAC, and lighting.
• Operate field diagnostic equipment and building-science tools.
• Identify energy-saving opportunities and provide cost-effective recommendations.
• Collect and enter data, photos, tests, and recommendations into program systems.
• Explain findings and next steps to homeowners in clear language.
• Coordinate with program staff and contractors to ensure timely completion of measures.
• Perform post-installation inspections to confirm compliance with specifications.
