Job summary

YAI is seeking a Behavior Support Assistant to provide in-home services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will assess, observe, train, and monitor behavioral concerns in partnership with families and other caregivers.

You will conduct formal and informal assessments, develop individualized habilitative plans, and deliver supportive behavioral counseling. Coordination with schools and therapies is essential, along with precise data collection and documentation.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Psychology of Human Services or closely related field required.
• At least one year of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or behavioral challenges.
• Valid Driver’s License may be required, based on position/location.
• Exceptional interpersonal, problem solving, communication, and time management skills.
• Willing to take initiative and assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed.
• Highly flexible and able to work varied work schedule including evenings, as needed.
• Experience in computer skills (Excel, graphing, Word) and ability to teach others.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides in-home services including assessment, observation, training and monitoring for people we support with I/DD in times of crisis or as requested.
• Conducts behavioral and habilitative assessments via formal means and informal observations.
• Develops written, individualized habilitative plans.
• Provides in-home intervention and training to families with behavioral concerns.
• Coordinates intervention with other service providers (school, therapies, ACS).
• Monitors data collection and weekly progress to analyze effectiveness.
• Oversees completion of required paperwork including progress reports and intakes.
• Provides supervision levels of safety plans to protect health and well-being.
• Meets for regular supervision and participates in Team Rounds.
